To be honest, I have never seen such a situation with my stories. However when it comes to editing, I see only if there's anything I can do to fix grammatical stuff. I don't change anything in writing because only the writer has the authority to do so. Because he knows in what circumstances he/she chose these words. What emotional condition they were in that time.
